Toronto, ON – Global News and CanWest News Service today announced that they have selected Ipsos Reid as their pollster of record. This agreement will enable Global News and CanWest MediaWorks papers across the country to take a leadership role in tapping into the issues that Canadians care about most.
“The partnership is a great fit,” said Gerry Nott, Editor-in-Chief, CanWest News Service. “Ipsos Reid has an extensive national reach to support our network of newspapers and television stations across the country, providing us with the ability to poll in all provinces. We will also be able to supplement our print and television coverage by sharing more detailed research and polling results with our audiences via our online newspaper sites and web properties such as canada.com.”
“Ipsos Reid is a leader in public polling on politics, policy, and consumer issues and trends,” added Steve Wyatt, Senior Vice President, News and Information for CanWest MediaWorks. “With this partnership we’ll be able to ensure we provide consumers with the most comprehensive and scientifically accurate background for all news stories and trends, plus ensure we’re in tune with public perceptions and concerns.”
The agreement provides CanWest News Service and Global News with original polling as well as access to Ipsos’ regular weekly polling and surveys and research on a wide variety of topics. The news teams will also have special access to Ipsos’ in-house experts such as Dr. Darrell Bricker, President of Public Affairs and John Wright, Senior Vice President.
“We look forward to this partnership with Canada’s largest combined news property,” said Darrell Bricker. “Our combined resources and brands will provide Canadians with reliable insights and trustworthy assessments about what people in this country think about and need to know” he said.
