Toronto, ON — Ipsos, a leading global survey-based market research firm, announced today it has developed a new proprietary online panel consisting of veterinarians in North America. The panel will help to meet the growing demand from its animal health customers for fast, cost-effective, and rigorous data with this very hard to reach audience.
“Our Veterinary Advisory Panel is designed to help build stronger relationships between animal health manufacturers and veterinarians, allowing manufacturers to better support the profession and respond to the issues impacting pets’ health today,” says David Webb, Senior Research Manager with the Ipsos Agribusiness, Food, and Animal Health team. “Veterinarians can be a difficult population to target for market research. The Veterinary Advisory Panel helps bridge that gap and allows animal health organizations to conduct surveys with greater ease than ever before. Unlike other methods such as telephone or mail, the online panel offers faster and more accurate results with greater cost-effectiveness.”
Currently, over 900 veterinarians from the U.S. and Canada have joined the Veterinary Advisory Panel with plans to grow it to over 2000 in the coming year. Panelists were pre-screened to ensure that the panel consists of licensed veterinarians only and is specifically focused on those in general companion animal practices, with a patient base of at least 75% dogs and cats.
“This also enabled us to gather a lot of key information about the veterinarians and their practice,” continues Webb. “Along with knowing the number of dog and cat patients in their clinic, we also know precisely what brands they are using for all of the major product categories. That means we could conduct a survey targeting users of a specific brand.”
Carefully designed to be representative of the general population of small animal practitioners, the panel was developed using a wide variety of approaches including email, fax, mail, and online advertising, to avoid any sampling biases.
The Ipsos online panel is recruited and maintained utilizing a rigorous screening process to ensure maximum return from an engaged and representative audience. Ipsos employs the best practices in panel management and the panel will be continually updated and non-responders will be removed. Ipsos has been collecting data online since 1995, and its team of research professionals, supervisors, and field coordinators ensure the rapid collection and tabulation of data, producing consistent, high quality results.
The Veterinary Advisory Panel is powered by Ipsos’ custom and proprietary Interactive Forum software. This unique platform offers real-time, direct access to veterinarians’ insights and will act as an interface between animal health organizations and veterinarians.
“As the pace of business continues to change, companies must deliver new products to market faster than ever before,” says Webb. “With the advent of Interactive Forum, businesses can now connect with veterinarians at any stage of the development process to evaluate ideas and minimize risks.” Ipsos has developed an efficient, flexible and cost-effective research tool that delivers instant, 24-hour-day access to a highly specialized segment of the population.
“This timely and cost-effective approach will allow animal health organizations to assess the response and potential recommendation share for new pharmaceuticals, explore veterinarians’ opinions of their sales force, and understand how veterinarians treat a specific type of disease or condition,” adds Webb. “It is a tremendous resource that will allow clients to research many business problems facing animal health organizations today, that otherwise would have gone unexplored.”
Ipsos combines market research expertise, technical knowledge and the most advanced data collection methods in use today. With over 600 employees working strictly in the online methodology and conducting over 8000 online surveys in 2007, Ipsos is one of the largest online firms in the world today. At present (November 2007), Ipsos’ panels count over 1.6 million panelists at individual level in 24 countries worldwide. A member of ESOMAR, Ipsos Interactive Services has been awarded ISO 27001 Certification. This certification reaffirms the company's commitment to product, service and company excellence and strengthens its market position as one of the Market Research industry's leading suppliers of Internet based research.
