Vancouver, BC – The Vancouver office of Canada’s leader in public opinion and market research has made a clear commitment to their community. Staff at Ipsos’ Vancouver office have been raising funds all year long. This week, their efforts and drive were fulfilled with a $20 000 donation to a group of charitable organizations.
“Our company believes that giving back is an integral part of staying connected to our community,” says Daniel Savas, Senior Vice President and co-chair of the office’s charity drive. “Everyone in the office had input into selecting our charities and they all pulled together to support these very worthy causes. While we took this endeavour seriously, we also had fun raising the funds through a number of creative and social activities. It’s amazing what you can do with some bingo cards, pizza, and silent auctions.”
For the past several years, Ipsos in Vancouver has been making a concerted effort to ensure their social responsibility in the community. With each year, the momentum has grown with this year’s donation exceeding previous expectations.
Ipsos staffers present cheques to local charities.
Four charitable organizations were chosen by staff, representing a cross-section of provincial charities and local initiatives with mandates centered on healthy people and healthy communities. The funds were split evenly amongst the four charities. Representatives from each charity were presented cheques at a special company breakfast on Tuesday, October 21. Those charities are:
- BC Cancer Foundation, an organization that raises funds to support breakthrough research and care at the BC Cancer Agency.
- BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, an organization that supports specialized and expert care for the province’s most seriously ill or injured children.
- Family Services of Greater Vancouver, an organization that provides social services to over 35,000 individuals across the region.
- Quest Outreach Society, an organization that “rescues” discarded food from the food industry for use by those less fortunate.
“It’s truly rewarding to give to organizations whose work supports our neighbourhoods, our local families, and our province,” continues Savas. “Every donation makes a difference, and with smaller organizations, funds are often able to go a long way. We balanced our support across a variety of causes, to fuel and best represent a spectrum of issues we truly care about.”
Funds were raised through the Ipsos Charity Trust, a charitable giving initiative set up by Ipsos in Canada to fund worthwhile causes in local communities. This year-round fundraising program is supported by the company and employees in each office across the country through voluntary payroll deductions and a series of activities.
