In the first week of the unofficial, official general election, the race between Clinton and Donald Trump is essentially unchanged. Clinton continues to lead by 8 points, at 42% to Trump’s 34% among registered voters nationwide

  • Donald Trump’s favorability numbers have held steady this week. However his favorability remains upside down with 40% of registered voters viewing the Republican nominee favorably to 60% unfavorably
  • Hillary Clinton has improved favorability numbers this week with her numbers closing to 48% favorable / 52% unfavorable

These are findings from an Ipsos poll conducted for Thomson Reuters June 4-8, 2016. For the survey, a sample of 1,716 Americans, including 781 Democrats, 593 Republicans, and 189 Independents ages 18+ were interviewed online. The precision of the Reuters/Ipsos online polls is measured using a credibility interval. In this case, the poll has a credibility interval of plus or minus 2.7 percentage points for all adults, 4.0 percentage points for Democrats, 4.6 percentage points for Republicans, and 8.1 percentage points for Independents. The data were weighted to the U.S. current population data by gender, age, education, and ethnicity. Statistical margins of error are not applicable to online polls. All sample surveys and polls may be subject to other sources of error, including, but not limited to coverage error and measurement error. Figures marked by an asterisk (*) indicate a percentage value of greater than zero but less than one half of one per cent. Where figures do not sum to 100, this is due to the effects of rounding.
