90% of Ambassadors Indicate Their Home Country is Closely Following the US Presidential Election

Washington, DC- The Ipsos Poll conducted for The Hill & Washington Diplomat was released today. This reports explores responses from roughly 30 international ambassadors.

  • 100% of respondents named trade and investment, international security, terrorism, and international rule of law as issues most important in the context of their country's relationship with the United states.
  • 90% of respondents indicate the leadership of their home country is closely following the US presidential election this year.
  • While 93% of respondents trust Hillary Clinton to maintain existing agreements and relationships.
    • Only 20% trust Donald Trump would do the same thing.

These are findings from an Ipsos poll conducted June 27-July 29, 2016. For the survey, a sample of roughly 30 ambassadors were interviewed online in English. The poll has a credibility interval of ± 20.4 percentage points for all respondents and a credibility interval adjusted for design effect of the following (n=30, DEFF=1.5, adjusted Confidence Interval=21.9).
