Rock the Vote/USA Today Millennial Poll - September 2016

Washington, DC- The findings for the fourth USA Today/Rock the Vote/Ipsos poll were released today.

  • While (reported) registration levels are up (Q1), enthusiasm has ticked down (Q2) since wave 2 when Bernie Sanders was still in the field.
  • Millennials, and particularly millennial likely voters, still highly identify as Democrats.
  • Hillary Clinton continues to build a lead over Trump, at +49 among likely millennial voters.
  • Millennials say jobs and the economy is the #1 issue followed by education and health care in the second tier and terrorism, civil rights, immigration and gun laws in the third tier.
  • Most millennials are aware of the debates and Clinton is widely perceived as having come out of them with a better image. She still struggles, however, with the “trustworthy” image.

These are findings from an Ipsos poll conducted October 11-13, 2016 on behalf of USA Today. For the survey, a sample of 1,020 adults age 18-34 from the continental U.S., Alaska and Hawaii was interviewed online in English. The poll has a credibility interval of ± 3.5 percentage points for all respondents and a credibility interval adjusted for design effect of the following (n=1,020, DEFF=1.5, adjusted Confidence Interval=5).
